In the first in our new favourite venue series, we’re chatting to Kristie, Social Event Manager from The Ace Hotel in London’s Shoreditch to hear what she loves most about this incredible venue with its amazing panoramic views. Here she shares some venue secrets and tells us about her wedding “best bits”…
So, please introduce us to The Ace!
Ace Hotel London Shoreditch hangs its hat in the heart of East London. Our spaces are airy, flexible and filled with flora, with wide views of the city from our rooftop. Every wedding we host is wholly different, and we’re here to make each one special.
If you could choose just five words to describe the venue, what would you say?
Dreamy rooftop views of Shoreditch.
What’s your favourite feature and why?
Our rooftop is incredibly special and I love all the greenery — there’s basically a small jungle in the bar which brings the space to life and adds a lush visual layer. The Conservatory Archives curated the plants, and they regularly tend to them. The plants get a lot of love and, in return, they animate the space beautifully.
Which weddings stand out for you – any weird or wonderful ones?
Every wedding is unique and special — every couple is different, singular in their vision and, without fail, there is always an element of surprise at each ceremony. One of my favorites, though, was the first wedding I organized. It was one of the hottest days of the year and everyone sipped on the couple’s bespoke bourbon cocktail, named after their adorable son. It was a love-filled affair and cemented my dedication to making each wedding as special as possible.
Have you ever had to be a hero and save the day?
No, I haven’t — touch wood! But we have a great team that’s at the ready to handle any situation calmly and quickly.
Do you have a favourite season or a particular theme or time of year that you think works best at The Ace?
We throw beautiful weddings all year around — Ace Hotel London is a graceful host through all seasons, with flexible spaces that creatively and comfortably accommodate guests no matter the weather. Rain or shine, we find that guests always love the view of the city from our rooftop. And we’re actually finding that winter weddings are becoming more and more popular; we’ve hosted spectacular weddings with candle-lit ceremonies and hot mulled wine on the terrace.
What does The Ace offer in terms of your space, catering options and other services?
The hotel is rich in communal spaces that can host a variety of wedding styles, and we have incredible in-house vendors who know our spaces intimately and are the best at what they do. Along with our rooftop kitchen and bar teams, we offer bespoke menus that can cater to specialty diets and fully vegan food and drink options. Our dedicated pastry team can provide beautiful wedding cakes and other sweet and savoury options like chocolate and cheese boards. We have state-of-the-art technology, including sound systems, DJ booth and projectors for screenings.
Are you licensed for weddings or are you solely a reception venue?
We offer both legal weddings and receptions.
What unique features does The Ace offer couples?
Our flexible spaces can host lavish, intimate affairs or raucous soirees with everyone you know — plus, we have room for the whole party to stay together. From panoramic rooftop views of East London to full service catering from our Rooftop kitchen, Ace Hotel London is equipped with super-functional and stunning rooms (great for pre-wedding photography), professional, seasoned staff and the convivial spirit of collaboration, community and celebration. Our 100 Room on the rooftop has floor-to-ceiling windows and offers spectacular views of the city.
Can you recommend some local suppliers?
We love our local suppliers and are happy to recommend vendors for all services — they all know the space and can help create personal and unique elements for every occasion. We also have friends that are right on-site, like Hoi Polloi and That Flower Shop. All our wedding couples are offered our Junior Suite with a private terrace for their wedding night, and their guests booking on blocked reservations get 20% off their stay.
