Patchwork LOVES The Fire Pit Camp set in seven acres of beautiful Norfolk! Rachel, along with her extended family, runs this little gem of a venue and here she tells us why it’s the perfect place for a gorgeous laid back festival wedding..
Tell us a little bit about The Fire Pit Camp… and the kind of couples it suits!
The Fire Pit Camp is a small, family run, eco glamping site. Our aim is to make sure every wedding and event is super personal, amazing and fun! We have a handmade hazel dome as the Bridal suite, bell tents, a decorated fire pit, outdoor licensed ceremony room, rustic benches and tables, a retro-double-decker bus and an incredible warehouse with 2 giant gnomes! We are perfect for a festival, boho and industrial chic wedding! If you want a wedding that is a little bit different – (and with awesome cocktails!) – we’re for you.

If you could choose just five words to describe your venue to couples what would you say?
Cool, funky, quirky, boho, eco.

What’s your favourite feature and why?
Can’t pick just one! The Retro Double-Decker Bus, The Fire Pit, 10ft Cocktail Bar and of course the hand made hazel dome The Wren’s Nest.

Which weddings stand out for you – any weird or wonderful ones?
Weddings that use all the elements! From the fields to the bus, outdoor bar, street food catering and the warehouse for a party. The best ones are the weddings that really harness all the magic that’s on offer, and use all the aspects of the site through the day and evening, finishing at the fire pit.

Have you ever had to save the day?
The warehouse and lean-too are always able to save the day if the weather was to turn! But we’ve been very lucky with rain here, maybe we have our own micro climate!

Do you have a favourite season or a particular theme or time of year that you think works best for your venue?
The summer seems to be perfect for the full monty festival outdoor festival wedding! Though we have had a wedding on Halloween which was epic too! It’s too cold to glamp in the winter so we are very seasonal.

How flexible is your service and what are you licensed for?
We are licensed for weddings, music and alcohol, we are super flexible and all we ask is that couples use our bar (they can bring in fizz and wine in for dinners and speeches with a service charge so we chill, store, serve, provide glasses, charge toasts and wash up). The couple get to choose any dream caterer, we have lots of contacts though and can even help them do it DIY!

Can you give us the heads up on some of your favourite suppliers?
We have loads of amazing contacts here in Norfolk. DJS @ourhouseisourhouse are amazing! Brilliant flowers by Niche Norwich/Niche Flowers and Swaffham Florist! Beth Moseley Photography, Honey and the Moon Photography, local Greenbanks Hotel and Strattons Hotel! Caterers, we love and know lots such as Woolf & Social, Squilla & Squidge, Churros & Chorizo, Moorish, Nomadi Pizza and gourmet doughnuts by Benedicts. And for an amazing alternative gift registry (especially if you want to do it a bit DIY and ask friends and family to give their time and skills to make your day extra special) of course it’s our friends at Patchwork!

And finally the Fire Pit lowdown – quick facts and stats:
What is your maximum guest capacity? 220
Is the venue licensed for civil ceremonies? Yes!
What time is lights-out? 12am
Do you have accommodation on site? Glamping, yes!
Do you have disabled access? Some, we are serving to make better access, we have one extra large w/c but it has a step up, and we have one changing-place, and can also assist to ground level area, however some outdoor grass/fields may prove tricky.
Thanks so much Rachel for showing us around the Fire Pit Camp!
