We’re getting up close and personal with our pick of the most gorgeous wedding venues to hear what makes them stand out from the crowd. We chatted to Tia from the Town Hall Hotel in London’s vibrant East End to share some insider secrets. Here she tells us about her favourite weddings and what made them unique…
Tell us a bit about Town Hall Hotel and what makes it special.
Town Hall is a really fun and unique venue. On wedding days, guests are treated to a day of visiting all the quirky spaces and take in all the wonderful architecture and art so they never feel like they are stuck indoors, thanks in no small part to the fabulous glass domes and huge windows. I like to call our hotel a ‘walk in’ wedding venue in that if you didn’t add any extra decor, it would still be a stunning wedding given all our unique art work and features.
Our couples and their guests start off in the historic Council Chamber for the ceremony, then on to the high ceilinged De Montfort Suite for some bubbles and canapés and maybe a tune or two on our grand piano. Then it’s time to visit the oak panelled, art deco Bethnal Hall for dinner and dancing, passing through Lovers Lane, a wonderful and slightly naughty wooden mural!

If you could choose just five words to describe the venue to couples what would you say?
Quirky, art-deco, authentic, cool, friendly
What’s your favourite feature and why?
Definitely the art-deco/Mad Men styling of the building. Everything is just so damn cool!

Which weddings stand out for you – any weird or wonderful ones?
We had a wedding recently where the couple transformed the party area into an enchanted forest! It was absolutely amazing. They used a company called The Plant People and hired about 20 massive shrubs and trees of varying sizes and shapes. They also hired lots of uplighters and hanging lights which gave an enchanted feel. There is a picture on our wedding instagram – @townhallhotel_weddings

Have you ever had to be a hero and save the day?
A florist got her days mixed up once and I literally had to go to the florist up the road and make some DIY bouquets! It was more of a garden centre really so I had to be a bit… creative! Let’s just say this was before greenery and ferns were En Vogue but they actually looked really cool and the Bride and bridesmaids were thrilled and it made for a great story during speeches!

Do you have a favourite season or a particular theme or time of year that you think works best at Town Hall Hotel?
