Roxanne and Peter have been together for 10 years, and after a truly romantic proposal in Italy, tied the knot this summer in a beautiful garden ceremony, surrounded by their friends and family. We asked them a few questions.
How did you get engaged?
Peter proposed in Milan after the ballet. He had a ‘stand in’ ring, but then we went together so that I could choose my own.

What kind of wedding did you plan?
A rustic country wedding, in a marquee in my mum’s garden in Suffolk. I made and decorated lots of things myself and also did my own flowers. I made a giant back drop out of pallets to go behind the top table, decorated the bar with vintage props and had typewriters for our guest book. We also had giant ‘LOVE’ lights outside which lots of our guests took photos in front of.
What was your first dance?
Florence and The Machine and The XX – You Got the Love.
Why was Patchwork the best gift list for you?
We wanted to have an incredible honeymoon traveling across Japan and thought Patchwork was a great way for our friends and family to pay for experiences instead of giving money. We also loved the fact we could send emails to say thanks.
What was the best thing about using Patchwork?
Everyone loved the patchwork and thought it was a fab and unique idea. It got everyone talking. The patchwork we created provided us with such contrasting experiences and it also got our guests really excited for our trip.
The generosity of our lovely friends, family and even the parents of the kids I teach was amazing. We felt so lucky, overwhelmed and excited to start our adventure.

Why did you choose Japan & South Africa for your honeymoon?
We wanted something different to the usual honeymoon, we love travelling and we had so much we wanted to see.

Would you recommend your trip to other honeymooners?
Yes. We had the most perfect honeymoon. Japan is so beautiful and cultural and South Africa is a striking contrast but was also really beautiful and provided us with amazing experiences.

It sounds incredible. Thank you for chatting to us, Roxanne & Peter, and congratulations from Team Patchwork!
To make your own patchwork just customise one of our readymades or create one from scratch.
