If you want to plan a familymoon in London but can’t bear the stress and expense of staying in a city hotel, check out AirBnB for places to rent in Peckham. We love this beautifully restored pub, which combines period charm with contemporary design, but being a family home it’s got all the kit and kids toys you’ll need, a walled garden for outside play and off-street parking to make life just that bit easier. Peckham has become ridiculously cool in the last few years so you’ll find fantastic restaurants on your doorstep as well as lovely parks, a local cinema and plenty of art galleries. And of course with Peckham now on the Tube you can be in Central and East London within 20 minutes.

This is great for couples with young babies who aren’t quite ready to give up their freedom yet! Hiring a campervan is probably the most romantic and stress- free way to explore the countryside at your own pace – stopping to feed, change and sleep whenever you need to. If you want gorgeous beaches, delightful driving and beautiful views head to Devon, hire a 1970s VW from O’Connors Campers, stock up on supplies and then just go wherever the mood takes you. Hit the open road, blast some Bob Dylan, and enjoy a break where you’ll wake up with a different view every morning.

If you’ve got kids going through the train phase this is the familymoon for you. No, it’s not Thomas Land, it’s a beautifully restored and cleverly converted Victorian train carriage in Helmsley, York offering a cosy and romantic escape that’s also fun for the kids. The carriage is a fully equipped, self-contained holiday home that sleeps up to four, has a lovely living/ kitchen area, a separate bathroom and a terrace for evening drinks once the kids are asleep.
